Fremantle Media is owned by the RTL Group. While Fremantle Media Enterprises is the official marketing division, Fremantle Licensing is responsible for the developing and exploiting FremantleMedia’s TV brands and properties off-screen.
Fremantle Licensing oversees the areas merchandising & licensing, sponsoring, premium rate services, mobile content and online activities.
With their international offices Fremantle Licensing is able to act international and focus on regional markets, depending on individual requirements.
FML operates in the USA, UK, in France, the Benelux countries, Australia, and Germany with an office in Potsdam-Babelsberg, managed by Wolf Bauer and David Ellender.
In their activities they seek to transport the emotions of the original TV series and develop successful cross-media cooperation:
- For traditional product categories (DVDs, audio books, electronic games, CD-ROMs, board games, toys, stationery, books & magazines (GZSZ&DSDS fan magazines) as well as fashion products tailor-made for fans
- Licensing (on and off air )
In Germany FML license and market the rights to all UFA productions; they establish TV brands and develop marketing and advertising concepts together with advertisers and sponsors. Most concepts are realized in cooperation with respective TV channels.
Since August 2007 Fremantle Licensing Germany are also responsible for all activities in Eastern Europe.
