"Jim Button and Luke the Engine Driver" and the sequel" Jim Button and the wild 13" are children's books by Michael Ende from 1960. The two books are among the most successful and popular children's books in the German-speaking world. Even today,Jim Button and Luke the Engine Drive are known, especially through the well-known adaptations of the books. In 1961, there was the first black-and-white film adaptation in the form of a series by the Augsburger Puppenkiste. In 1999, the first animated series based on the books was filmed and in 2018, the first live-action film adaptation followed in theaters. The stories are about little Jim, who washed up on the island of Lummerland one day and grows up there from then on.
