Pinocchio is one of the most important novels of world literature. 1881 Carlo Lorenzini (alias Carlo Collodi 1826 – 1890, Tuscany) started publishing his stories of Pinocchio.

Toymaker Geppetto desperately wants his beloved wooden marionette to become a real boy. A good fairy makes his wish come true and brings Pinocchio to life. The marionette sets out on an adventurous trip and has to prove his braveness, loyalty and truthfulness.

Many movies and theatrical plays have been based on the novel. Most famous is the second great movie by Walt Disney (1940) and the animated series from Japan (52 episodes from 1976).
