Description:

Pauli and his friend Mausi live in Maulwurfshausen, a town in the middle of the large wood in Kaukasien. Pauli and Mausi live close-to-nature and respect their natural surroundings. The little mole and mouse are always curious and ready-to-help. While Pauli again and again tries to win the favour of his girlfriend Mimi, Mausi often anticipates the danger. His worst enemies Egon and Mecki also compete for Mimi’s friendship. If it is not Mimi, sure enough Pauli’s Dad, the tunnel engineer, has something to do for his son. Again and again Dad Baumeister uses practical examples to explain life to his son – but often Pauli understands things long before his father does. Paula Baumeister, Pauli’s mum is a music teacher and often safes her husband from one or the other tricky situation.

Pauli is one of the special comic classics by Rolf Kauka that fascinates many fans – even today. In contrast to many other Kauka series Pauli has been supervised by Kauka artist Branco Karabajic for decades. Pauli made his debut in the Kauka magazine “Eulenspiegel” issue number 18 in 1954. With squeak toys Pauli has been the first licensed Kauka character with its own merchandising product, long before any Fix&Foxi items entered the market. In Eulenspiegel issue number 20 Pauli even becomes “Mayor of the Wood” and later appeared together with Fix, Foxi and Lupo. The story "Paulis Heimkehr" follows the return to his family and marked the beginning of his own independent series. Since then Pauli has been the second series in the Fix & Foxi magazine – until today. In May 2008 Pauli got his own magazine: A new preschool magazine mainly covering subjects like nature, animals, environment and climate.

In cooperation with Ludewig animation studios ("The Little Polar Bear", "Winnetoons" and the feature film "Die Legende vom Schatz im Silbersee") Kauka currently produces an animated Pauli series comprised of 52 episodes scheduled for release in 2009.
