Zodiak Rights, the international division of Zodiak Media Group, has signed two new deals for the online phenomenon and viral sensation, Simon’s Cat.

Only 4 U Ltd has acquired the rights to produce a range of Simon’s Cat products to include: tote bags, travel accessories, glassware and food storage. Products are set to launch on the high street from early 2012. Carte Blanche Greetings Ltd, the company behind Tatty Teddy and My Blue Nose Friends, has added Simon’s Cat to its plush range. The initial plush line will roll out from October 2011 and will include plush and sound chip plush of various sizes and a mini key chain plush range.

Jocasta Kelsey, Head of Marketing, Carte Blanche Greetings Ltd: “Fans from all over the world fell in love with this adorable and anarchic comical cat when he launched himself online a few years ago, and we at Carte Blanche were no different. We are therefore, absolutely delighted to be working on the fantastic Simon’s Cat brand with the Zodiak Rights team and look forward to launching our range of plush product from October 2011.”

Created by award-winning English animator Simon Tofield, Simon’s Cat is a genuine word-of-mouth phenomenon. This on-line animated series follows the humorous adventures of Simon's cat and his relationship with Simon's cartoon alter ego.

This latest deal follows the launch (February 21) of the Simon’s Cat comic strip in the UK’s national newspaper the Daily Mirror. This major three year worldwide syndication deal means that fans, for the first time, will see Simon's Cat's world in colour - though Simon's cat remains white.

Zodiak Rights has recently secured a number of licensing deals for the brand. Simon’s Cat giftware and homeware products were launched at Spring Fair and other merchandise already available includes: celebration cakes; greetings cards; gift wrap; gift tags; gift bags; stationery-based gifting; calendars and diaries.

Since March 2008 Simon’s Cat has received 133.9 million views on YouTube and has 424,260 YouTube subscribers – making it the seventh most subscribed UK YouTube channel worldwide and the number one rated video out of all videos on YouTube (Aug 2010).

The Simon’s Cat print debut has also been a success; the first book entered the Bookseller Top 50, Amazon Top 20 and Play.com’s #1 spot for all books.

To date, Simon’s Cat has received 29,385 followers on Twitter and over 410,000 fans on Facebook.

Simon’s Cat has won several awards including Best Comedy at the British Animation Awards, YouTube’s ‘Blockbuster Award’ and Prix Animation at the Festival International des Très Courts.
