In an extension of their long term and fruitful partnership on the smash hit boy band series Big Time Rush, Nickelodeon and Sony Music are backing the UK release on 11 July of the band's debut album, BTR. The album topped UK music store HMV’s pre-order enquiries in the week before the release, according to Music Week magazine, and hit number six in the UK mid-week chart within days of its release – and looking good for the full week chart at the weekend.

The album includes all the hits from the band’s TV show plus six bonus tracks and a poster exclusive to the UK. A whirlwind promotional tour for the release takes in gigs in Manchester and Northampton, signings at HMV stores across the country and appearances on influential television programmes including ITV’s breakfast show Daybreak, plus radio shows on Kiss FM and BBC Radio 1.

In April, BTR performed at the spectacular Viva Comet Award Show held in Oberhausen, Germany. The band has been in the UK twice since April for shows at London’s O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire, at Manchester University’s Manchester Academy and at summer festival Pandamonium in the Park at Althorp in Northamptonshire.

The album is already reaping major sales across in Canada, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Philippines where it released in April. When it released in the US last October, the album debuted at number 3 on the Billboard Top 200 Album chart and has sold over 2.1 million digital tracks in the US. The US released album quickly went Gold – with 500,000 sales under its belt.

Big Time Rush are currently in the studio working on their follow-up album that is slated for release in the US later this year.
