Continuity at the head of ZDF Enterprises - Alexander Coridass’ contract renewed

Alexander Coridass, the President and CEO of ZDF Enterprises and speaker of the management, will continue to head ZDF’s commercial subsidiary in the coming years. As Chairman of the Supervisory Board of ZDF Enterprises, ZDF Director-General Markus Schächter announced the renewal of Coridass’ contract for another five years. The 56-year-old Coridass has been President and CEO of the company since 1998.

“Under the leadership of Alexander Coridass, ZDF Enterprises has become one of the leading players on the global TV market and is extremely well prepared for the challenges of the digital world,” says Schächter. The firm successfully and dynamically handles the German and international sales of the ZDF catalogue, which comprises the broadcaster’s programs as well as own rights and the rights of third parties. Today, ZDF Enterprises ranks among the industry’s top addresses in the field of international coproductions, attractive children’s programs, high-quality history and nature documentaries and exciting fictional programs. Thanks to its persistence and innovative strategies, ZDF Enterprises has become one of the world’s market leaders in its domain. “Coridass is one of the most highly profiled German media managers at the national and international levels,” adds Schächter.

In the fiscal year 2010, ZDF Enterprises recorded sales of c. 58 million euros; the consolidated sales of the ZDF Enterprises group attained c.128 million euros. The firm employs a staff of approx. 100. Alexander Coridass was born in Frankfurt am Main, studied law and journalism in Mainz and Dijon, and began working at ZDF in 1985 as a legal expert for copyright and international law. He was responsible for, among other things, the spreading of the international cable reception of the ZDF programs. In 1991 he was appointed head of the foreign sales department of ZDF. When ZDF Enterprises GmbH was founded in 1993, he became the Head of Sales and was appointed President and CEO in 1998. He is also assistant lecturer at various academies and universities, member of the supervisory and advisory boards of several media corporations and member of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
