"Filly" adds value to licence portfolio of United Labels

United Labels - August 2011

United Labels AG has extended its portfolio to include the popular "Filly" licence, the focus being on the fifth and latest series known as "Filly Unicorn". As part of its pan-European rollout spanning twenty-five countries, the company plans to launch an extensive range of merchandise within the textiles segment as well as various giftware products. "Filly" will join illustrious stars such as "Mickey Mouse", "The Simpsons" and "Peanuts" as well as other cartoon heroes who have been an integral part of United Labels AG's licence family for many years.

"Fillies" are small plastic horse figurines with a satin-soft finish. With colourful wings that glow in the dark, they have established themselves as fun-packed toys with a very high enjoyment factor. The "Filly" figurines have been available in Germany for around four years and are particularly popular within their young target market. In fact, they are currently ranked second in the Top 50 league table of the most widely sold toys in Germany. Unit sales have already exceeded twenty million at a global level. The miniature horses and the adventures included with each figurine in the form of a short story are particularly popular among young girls aged between three and eight. The fifth and latest series, known as "Filly Unicorn", was launched in Germany towards the end of February and comprises a total of twenty-one figurines.

"Filly has firmly established itself within the German market and, given its continued popularity, holds great potential for the future," says Peter Boder, founder and CEO of United Labels AG. Targeted mainly at young audiences, the "Filly" range of merchandise represents a lucrative extension to the portfolio for both key accounts and specialty retailers.
