Be it art, model making or custom-made car paint jobs - airbrush technology has long been opening up new fascinating possibilities.

However, not only adults are interested in this topic; many kids of today also appreciate airbrush works: cool design skateboards, slogans on t-shirts and creative wall paintings are all associated with airbrushing.

Up to now, airbrushing was much too complicated for children. Delicate precision mechanics, high-maintenance spray guns and last but not least compressed air systems that were far from child-appropriate barred children from using airbrush devices.

These problems now belong to the past. Revell is the first company to provide spray guns with child-appropriate compressors. With its technical features this maintenance-free compressor is tailor-made for the capabilities of children aged 8+. What is more, the unique “easy-color-click” colour cartridges make changing colours real child’s play. The toy manufacturer first presented their innovative new development at the Nuremberg Toy Fair 2011 under the brand name “Orbis”.

Orbis is the result of a cooperative project between Revell and G-mate AG in Lübeck, leading German manufacturer of high-performance airbrush systems. The new Orbis system was subject to the requirement to develop a child-appropriate, maintenance-free airbrush system to production standard.

The Orbis Basic Set contains a compressor, a spray gun and four colour cartridges as well as a variety of templates. A detailed instruction booklet explains how plain everyday objects can also be used as templates. Wads of cotton wool, for example, can be used to create clouds and torn cardboard helps to airbrush hills and mountains. Just give your imagination free rein and also children achieve astonishing results with only a little practice.

The specially developed colour cartridges are available in sets of four. Just click them into the spray gun and start airbrushing straight away. If you want to switch to another colour, simply change the cartridge and carry on – splotch-free results guaranteed! All cartridges contain children’s ink and are suitable fro airbrushing on paper. And even if some paint accidentally lands on hands and clothes – no need to worry: Colours easily wash off hands, clothes and surfaces.

For girls, Revell provides the Orbis sets “Power Flower”, “Dream Horses”, and “Monster High”. So they easily spray colourful flowers and fantasy horses on paper. Boys give their imagination free rein with the template sets “Skater Fun” and “Cool Graffiti”.

The Orbis tattoo sets allow children to spray on parent-approved tattoos – because they don’t get under the skin! The perfect offer for girls: The “Flower” tattoo set. So they and their best friend can choose from wonderful flower designs and get their own “friendship tattoo”. Tribal motifs, skulls and Chinese dragons are tattoos that also appeal to boys. The self-adhesive, delicate templates make it difficult to distinguish these tattoos from real ones. What’s best: Whenever you want to replace a tattoo just apply a bit of body lotion and remove the old tattoo.

The whole world of Orbis is available from September at specialized retail shops.
