FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME), the commercial and brand extension arm of FremantleMedia, today announced a fashion design contest as part of a comprehensive online marketing campaign for the Rebecca Bonbon brand with Stardoll, the online fashion game and world’s largest website for teen and tween girls. The initiative marks the first time a Stardoll member’s design will be produced and sold at retail.

The fashion design contest offers one lucky winner the chance to have a virtually-created design sold offline as part of an upcoming Rebecca Bonbon apparel line available through Kmart. The winning design will be chosen by the Stardoll community at-large and is open to U.S. residents. Details on how to enter the contest will be announced on Stardoll this fall.

In addition to entering the design contest, members of the Stardoll community are invited to join the “Rebecca Bonbon Club” where they will have access to unique virtual products and prizes, the Jennette McCurdy “Me Doll” section, and exclusive video content. The new online marketing program for Rebecca Bonbon, the latest fashion import from Japan created by Yuko Shimizu, the original creator of Hello Kitty, coincides with the 2011 Back-to-School line currently available at Kmart stores nationwide.

Rebecca Bonbon is an emerging global fashion brand, as well as the most stylish French Bulldog on the planet, so it is naturally fitting for the brand to partner with Stardoll,” stated David Luner, executive vice president of Consumer Products, Interactive and Mobile, FME North America. “We are confident that Stardoll’s targeted membership will embrace this one-of-a-kind, fashion-driven contest allowing them to have a truly engaging brand experience.”

Stardoll was launched in 2006, has more than 120 million registered users globally and reaches over 18 million unique users per month.

“We are so pleased to be introducing Rebecca Bonbon game play into the Stardoll community this month,” said Chris Seth, general manager of Stardoll Media. “This will be the first time one of our Stardoll member designs will become a real world product, something our fashionistas have been dreaming about.”

Rebecca Bonbon’s character is a French bulldog and super cute fashionista from Paris who currently resides in New York City with a penchant for shopping and sweets. Jennette McCurdy, star of Nickelodeon’s iCarly, has been announced as the official brand spokesperson for the Rebecca Bonbon girls’ clothing and accessory brand, available at Kmart. The brand is also widely available in Japan and in most major Western European countries, and gearing up to launch in the U.K. this fall. FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME) was granted exclusive master licensing rights to Rebecca Bonbon from Crown Creative in 2008 and now represents the brand globally (excluding Japan and Korea.)
