Krazy Wordz: The Party Game for Letter Scramblers and Word Smiths

Ravensburger - May 2016

Is “Syani” a South Sea island or the king of Thailand? Does “Breng” indicate a spicy Hungarian meat dish or a stain remover? That’s what nobody knows and that’s what makes the hilarious word-discovery-game “Krazy Wordz” so much fun. Players invent innovative new words that do not exist in reality. Whoever guesses most words right wins the creative letter-juggling game.

The game “Krazy Wordz”, published under the “fishtank” brand, is an entertaining, amusing party game. Each round up to seven players receive a secret task, and take nine letter tiles, six consonants and three vowels. Now the wordsmiths have to invent a new Krazy Word that fits their task but can never be found in any dictionary. Also translations, imitations, replications, and abbreviations are off-limits. “What is the eleventh event in a decathlon?”, “What is it that my grandma has always warned me about?” and “What’s the name of a western hero?” are only a few examples of the countless, entirely different tasks.

The next step is guessing the words. Players reveal their sophisticated word creations, shuffle the task cards and display them on the table. Now you have to guess which Krazy Word belongs to which task. That’s rather tricky and often draws infectious laughter. Is “Steb Lasa” the title of a blockbuster action film or an advice for vegans? Does “Diodre” label a French wine, an elegant perfume, or a luxury hotel? Players win points if they guess correctly and/or if someone has matched their word creation to the respective task. Winner is who scored most points after six rounds.

The party game “Krazy Words” is available in two different variants: The “Family Edition” for the whole family and children aged 10+ and an adult variant for ages 16 and up that features cheeky, suggestive and sometimes even x-rated tasks. If you combine both editions, you may also play with up to 14 people. What is more, feel free and inspired to invent your own tasks!
