A ColleXion gives players a veritable bonanza of points this spring

Schmidt Spiele - January 2021

Simply collected - quickly transformed

Who has the triangles, pentagons and octagons firmly in view and also recognizes the matching square? Only with a trained eye can a points-earning "ColleXion" be formed in the new family game by author Antoine Bauza. The aim of the game is to take various polygons from the game box and put them together to form shape or color sets, thus earning valuable points. The later the players can form the sets, the more valuable the point chips. But beware: Leftover shapes result in minus points and the other players are also diligent collectors who should not be offered a template too often. The winner is the player who has collected the most points at the end of the game.

In "ColleXion", two to four players aged seven and up need a keen gift of observation. A game box contains many different polygons, which the players have to draw and combine into sets of colors or shapes to score points. One after the other, the players draw polygons from a game plate. However, only those that are completely visible and have at least one property of the previously drawn game piece may be stolen. Thus, if a player chooses a green octagon, he may only take a green polygon or an octagon afterwards. A player may draw a maximum of four polygons per turn, after which he transfers them to his collection and attempts to form sets. For each color set, consisting of four of the same color, or shape set, the player wins a point marker. These increase in value towards the end. Then it is the next player's turn. Three different action markers, which each player receives at the beginning and which can be used once, provide an advantage - and annoyance for the other players. The game ends as soon as either all the tiles have been stolen from the box or there are no more point markers. Polygons that have not been turned into sets earn the players minus points. The winner is the player who was able to collect the most points.
