Osann GmbH receives Top 100 Seal 2021 for extraordinary innovative work

Osann - February 2021

Award-winning innovative strength: Osann GmbH from Gottmadingen has received the Top 100 Seal 2021. This award honors particularly innovative medium-sized companies - now for the 28th time. Prior to this, the manufacturer of children's car seats and strollers was able to prove itself in a scientific selection process.

On behalf of Compamedia, the organizer of the Top 100 innovation competition, innovation researcher Prof. Dr. Nikolaus Franke and his team examined the innovative strength of Osann GmbH. The researchers used around 120 test criteria from five categories as a basis: Innovation-promoting top management, innovation climate, innovative processes and organization, external orientation/open innovation and innovation success. At the heart of the competition is the question of whether innovations are the result of a planned approach or a product of chance, i.e. the repeatability of innovation performance. And it is also about whether and how the corresponding solutions succeed on the market. Due to the current situation, there was also a special section in which the entrepreneurial reaction to the Corona crisis was examined.

Osann GmbH is based in the area of child car seats and strollers. The company, which is based in the Lake Constance region, has so far made a name for itself primarily with its growing and swiveling child car seats in the low to medium price segment. In recent years, Managing Director Patrick Osann has also worked with his team and external experts to expand the portfolio to include high-quality combination strollers and buggies - resulting in a new collection that is designed to impress parents and children both visually and functionally (osann.de/new-collection). "As one of the last family-owned companies in the industry - lean structures included - we are proud to have been recognized with such a major award. This encourages us that our processes have a good basis and that we can build on this," adds Patrick Osann, who now holds 14 international patents. The fact that inventiveness is deeply rooted in the company's DNA is also demonstrated by the following milestone: founder Stephan Osann, who now works in a consulting capacity, was responsible for the German market launch of the Maxi-Cosi, the "original baby shell," in the 1980s.

Prof. Dr. Nikolaus Franke, the scientific director of Top 100, is impressed by the award-winning medium-sized companies. "The Top 100 companies have consistently focused on being as innovative as possible," he notes. On November 26, there will be another reason to celebrate: then all the award winners of the current Top 100 year will come together to receive congratulations from Ranga Yogeshwar at the 7th German SME Summit in Ludwigsburg. The science journalist has been mentoring the innovation competition for ten years.
