CopCorp Licensing chose the Brand Licensing Central & Eastern Europe trade fair in Budapest as the site for today’s global launch of Fiona & the Funky Pirates™, the first ever Barcode Kitties spin-off property from Japan’s SEIKODO Corporation.

“With strong Barcode Kitties licensees already established in Germany, Russia, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovenia, and elsewhere across Europe, this Brand Licensing trade fair seemed the ideal time and place to launch our Barcode Kitties spin-off property,” explains CopCorp Licensing President Carole Postal. “Barcode Kitties licensees are now welcome to incorporate Fiona, Captain Fish, Skipper, Dipper and the others into their existing Barcode Kitties product lines or to treat Fiona & the Funky Pirates as a completely independent property.” Fiona & the Funky Pirates is a cute and whimsical children’s property featuring a silly and adventurous group of fun-loving sea creatures. Without Fiona the arctic seal and her trusty compass, Captain Fish the penguin and the crew of their magical ship The FishBone would all be lost. With Fiona’s help, however, they happily sail both land and sea in search of fun, fresh fish, and new friends to treasure. The Funky Pirates crew includes not only Fiona and Captain Fish but also Fiona’s fellow seals Billy, Bonnie, Sammy, Wyatt and Cride as well as Skipper the young parrot and Dipper the baby penguin.

Both Fiona & the Funky Pirates and Barcode Kitties are creations of Nagoya (Japan)-based SEIKODO Corporation. As with Barcode Kitties, CopCorp and SEIKODO are making sure that Fiona and the Funky Pirates launches with a wealth of beautiful artwork (including character designs, backgrounds, and secondary graphic elements). While Barcode Kitties launched with a pastel pink and blue color scheme, however, Fiona and the Funky Pirates features a bright, fun color palette with lots of deep blue and rich gold plus brilliant jewel tones designed to appeal to both boys and girls.
