Take off into space with LEGO City while the LEGO City police keeps law and order on the ground

Lego News - March 2011

Be it at the station, at the airport, or on duty with the fire brigade, LEGO City helps little ones aged five and over learn through play about the environment in which they live. Life-like building sets and modern designs ensure they will never be bored. January sees the launch of new products for the most popular LEGO City theme - the police. Robbers made LEGO City a dangerous place and the police needs help of some brave kids to catch them. From April onwards, LEGO City reaches for the sky to première the exciting world of space travel.

In January, the Police Station will be going to great lengths to keep LEGO City safe. From the command centre, four police officers and a dog keep an eye on the prisoners in their cells. But still, they could escape! The police officers have to quickly chase them in their police car and transport them back to prison in their van. There, their next mission already awaits them: sitting in the control centre of the huge Mobile Police Unit, the detective issues an alert that a robber is escaping in a red sports car with bars of gold. So a police officer grabs his handcuffs and chases him on his motorcycle to take him to the station with the Prisoner Transport. Meanwhile, another police officer drives to the scene and sends out his dog as part of a large Police Dog Unit to help track the robber. The Police Minifigure Collection is also mobilized when, caught stealing money from the ATM machine, two robbers try to escape the police. The police needs the help of the quad bike to catch them.

The Police Boat, patroling and protecting the waterways of LEGO City, will be available to buy in the stores from March onwards. Equipped with handcuffs, walkie-talkies, and life vests, the police officers chase a robber on his personal watercraft. The boat floats in water and can be equipped with an engine.

In April, LEGO City will leave home ground and take off into space for an exciting adventure. All the preparations for the take-off are being made at the Space Centre: a mechanic fills the rocket with fuel and transports the astronauts in their space suits to the top of the launch platform, and mission control monitors the take-off from the control centre and starts the countdown. Once in space, the astronaut has to open his Space Shuttle and use the Canadian arm to release the Hubble Space Telescope into orbit around earth. The Satellite Launch Pad sends out the communications satellite, while the astronaut uses the Space Moon Buggy to explore the lunar landscape and take rock samples.

The adventure is set to continue in LEGO CITY in August and September 2011.
