Toei Animation Signs Licensing Partners in Spain For 'Dr. Slump Arale'

Dr.Slump - Arale: Popular Anime Series Celebrates Its 30th Anniversary
And Welcomes A Slate Of New Partners

2011 will be the year of the re-launch of the famous anime series DR. SLUMP-ARALE, Property that was already a hit in the Spanish autonomous regions where it was broadcasted in the 80s - 90s and beginning of 2000. The re-launching of the Property is supported by several key licensee agreements, which will help move the franchise forward with their respective products.

DR. SLUMP-ARALE partners to date are:

  • SAVOR (EMON): They have acquired the DVD and TV rights for Spain. In May the first packs of DVDs containing episodes in Spanish, Catalan and original Japanese version (with subtitles) will be released, and so on during the rest of the year. Also, the sales of the broadcast rights of the series are under negotiation with several Spanish channels.
  • PULL & BEAR: The Spanish top fashion retailer part of Inditex group will launch a T-Shirts line this spring, both for men and women, in their about 300 stores in Spain and Portugal.
  • SD TOYS: This leading company in merchandising for adults will launch, from the second semester of the year, a collection of items such as PVC and anti-stress figures of the characters from DR. SLUMP-ARALE, as well as cups, fridge magnets, pins, etc.
  • PLANETA DE AGOSTINI: This publishing company is the licensee of the DR. SLUMP-ARALE comics. The title is one of their leading sales among manga titles. During 2011 they will publish up to 6 new volumes of their collection.

In the same way, licenses for collectible products for news-stands, bags and accessories, gift items, etc, are being negotiated with other companies.

DR. SLUMP - ARALE is a TV series based on the manga comic of the same title whose author, Akira Toriyama, is also the creator of the famous saga Dragon Ball. Since the animated series was produced in 1981, it has been broadcasted around the world throughout its now 30-year history.
