Lavish Rights has just signed JELC Ltd to represent their new teen character brand Kuma Couture in the UK and Eire.

This unconventional and avant-garde new property, Kuma Couture, builds on their existing brand portfolio which includes The Pet Poets Club, Bob & Peski and Luv Me Buddies. Like the Luv Me Buddies, Kuma Couture is an east meets west character brand but this time “with an edge”. It’s funky, has a fashion spin and has a strong appeal to the teen girl demographic.

“We are pleased to sign and to be working with JELC” said Marc Todd, CEO of Lavish Rights. “Kuma Couture is unique, it’s modern, progressive and has a completely unique visual look. Kuma Couture is a cool, progressive brand for girls. There are four main characters each with very strong and easily identifiable personalities which make the brand very distinctive.”

Jane Evans, MD of JELC, says “At JELC we see a wide variety of new ideas, the vast majority of which we don’t get involved with. However very rarely one comes along which is truly unique and Kuma Couture is one of those. The Lavish Group has a rare combination – incredible creativity with a sound understanding of the licensing industry. Marc understands the need to support licensees, especially in the early days of a completely new property. We’re delighted to be working with him and his great team.”

Lavish is looking to partner with licensees and agents from other countries in phase two of their new brand launch. Kuma Couture is another rung on the Lavish property ladder, reaffirming the company’s ambition to position itself as one of the most progressive IP creators in Europe.
