AT New Media gives you the chance to vote on 10 top games brands with merchandising appeal. Which do you believe is number 1? With E3 and the Licensing Show upon us and after much discussion with some industry stakeholders, AT New Media has come up with an interesting list on which you can vote. With the growth of merchandising opportunities associated with computer games brands, AT New Media is offering you the chance to give an opinion through a vote on what you believe is the top merchandising opportunity from the interactive games market. Simon Kay, CEO AT New Media says, “Before everyone jumps in with their own valued opinions on this, and we are sure there will be many, the way we viewed this was based on the overall contribution and connection to a merchandising program a game has made as well as unit sales of the games themselves”. A complex yet intriguing combination which may go against many other surveys that have been done over recent years that have tended to focus on just games sales which naturally would lead to other brands being visible. AT also looked at the depth of character and potential for ongoing merchandising across multiple merchandise product categories and how wide the potential audience is. The list is also importantly based on reviewing game platforms that range from Wii and DS to Playstation, PSN, XBLA, Steam, Facebook, Online/MMOG, and Smartphone Apps. In fact all these platforms are represented in some form in the list which is significant in the review process. A review was also taken on the position of various games brands if merchandising opportunities were to be fully available. Some of course are not fully available at the present time. Some restrictions apply like with Zynga for instance. Now the good thing is that you get the chance to vote on your favourite so we can all see who comes out number one at the end of June. Why the end of June, well we have E3 this week and the Licensing Show next week, so it is a good month to see how this goes. You can see the options and vote on this survey of opinion on AT’s website via www.atnewmedia.com AT New Media has become well known and successful as the licensing industry’s pioneering agency specialising in interactive media rights and with games and gaming brands becoming more exciting in the merchandising space, the company is increasingly becoming involved in this sector as its recent partnership with Team 17 on WORMS demonstrates. |
