Bulldog Licensing has announced details of a new apparel agreement for Monkey, the star of the classic advertisements for ITV Digital and PG Tips.
Monkey’s double act with comedian Johnny Vegas has gone down in history as one of the most popular ad campaigns ever to appear on the small screen, and has turned Monkey into a cultural icon and one of the most saleable brands in Britain for the 16-34 year old consumer. He has a cult following of tens of thousands of fans across online sites such as Facebook and YouTube, and is currently back on our screens in a new batch of hilarious commercials.
The new deal is with top licensee BCI and will see the launch of a range of fantastic T-shirts emblazoned with Monkey’s iconic image. This latest agreement adds BCI to a range of existing partners - Posh Paws is on board for plush, GB Eye for posters and Danilo for Monkey greetings cards and calendars, whilst Bluebird Brands is producing a wide range of products including fashion bags, laptop bags, plush bags and purses as well as a homewares line that will include aprons, hot water bottles, mugs and tea towels. Licensor for the Monkey brand is Comic Relief, meaning that all licensed products sold will help the charity.
“Monkey lends himself perfectly to apparel so we are delighted to have signed this new deal,” says Bulldog MD Rob Corney, “the brand benefits from huge awareness and everybody loves Monkey, whilst having Comic Relief as a licensor makes him even more attractive to licensees. All this has enabled us to develop a programme that just keeps on growing!” |
