SpongeBob SquarePants books win Korean education award

SpongeBob SquarePants has squelched his way to another award – this time for the SpongeBob SquarePants English Book series of educational English language books in Korea.

Nickelodeon Consumer Products International, part of Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN), with partner BIR through its children’s imprint Gorilla Box has won the English Reading Education category at the 9th Korea Education Brand Awards, organised by certification body Brand Stock.

The series includes 42 titles across three reading stages – SpongeBob SquarePants Reader’s Book, SpongeBob SquarePants Story Book and SpongeBob SquarePants Chapter Book.

Each book is accompanied by an audio CD narrated by a native English speaker, plus a vocabulary and language list designed to assist Korean-speaking children learn English phrases and expressions. The book series is also backed by additional online content.
The series is set to be expanded in 2012 with a further 10 titles taking the reading scheme to reading level 4.
