Latest book from author/illustrator Sue Hendra enjoying huge retail exposure

Bright and Beyond has announced that Wanda and the Alien – the latest book from popular children’s author/illustrator Sue Hendra – has hit the shelves and is being listed in a host of top UK outlets.

Published by Random House, the book tells the tale of how Wanda the rabbit meets and befriends an alien – it is a warm and funny book that is all about sharing and accepting differences and features the bright and colourful illustrations that Sue Hendra is renowned for.

Retailers have been quick to list the title - Waterstone’s includes Wanda in its high profile ‘Buy One Get One For £1’ picture book offer, whilst Sainsbury’s had the title as a bookclub choice for May and Waitrose is set to include it on the ‘Why Not Try?’ shelf. Tesco is also promoting Wanda in a ‘Buy One Get One Free’ promotion, WHSmith will feature it in a picture book promotional bay in 250 stores, and Wanda is also a promoted title on Amazon.

The new book is the latest in a series of best-selling Sue Hendra titles – her first book, Barry the Fish with Fingers, has been a huge hit and led to the recent publication of a follow up - Barry the Fish with Fingers and the Hairy Scary Monster, whilst Norman the Slug With a Silly Shell was released earlier this year and is currently flying high in The Bookseller’s pre-school chart.

“Wanda and the Alien looks like being another hit for Sue Hendra,” says Bright and Beyond MD Vicki Willden-Lebrecht, “both children and adults alike love her work and I’m sure this latest title will prove to be just as popular as Sue’s other books.”
