FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME), the commercial and brand extension arm of FremantleMedia, announced today major programme sales across Central and Eastern Europe. Broadcasters have snapped up all of FME’s newest dramas, hundreds of hours of factual programming, and FME’s slate of hit entertainment juggernauts. Maximilian Bolenius, VP Sales, German-speaking Europe and Central & Eastern Europe for FME brokered the deals. FME’s drama strategy has resulted in a growing slate of high end titles and broadcasters have been quick to add them to their schedules. The Sinking of the Laconia, the epic WWII drama, was picked up by HBO Central & Eastern Europe, Pro TV (Romania), Pop TV (Slovenia), TV Barrandov (Czech Republic), and HRT (Croatia). Kidnap & Ransom, starring and co-produced by Trevor Eve, has been acquired by TV Barrandov (Czech Republic), HRT (Croatia), and TVP (Poland). The Australian hit drama Winners & Losers will have viewers in Slovenia via Pop TV and Poland via Fox International Channels. Paul Abbott’s recent drama Exile has been picked up by Ceska Televize (Czech Republic); and The Reckoning, starring Ashley Jenson, will air in the Czech Republic on TV Barrandov, and in Croatia on HRT. And as part of a major pan-Eastern European deal, SPI International has picked up The Crimson Petal and The White, Exile, and Kidnap & Ransom. Finally, the international hit drama Merlin will continue to delight fans with sales in Romania (Pro TV), Slovenia (Pop TV), and Russia (TV3). In entertainment, FME’s major entertainment titles keep attracting huge audiences and key broadcasters around the world. American Idol continues to dominate with sales of series 10, 11 and 12 to MTV Russia. Project Runway series 8 and Is She Really Going Out With Him? series 2 and 3 were also picked up by MTV Russia. Multi-territory broadcaster Chello Media picked up a package of entertainment and factual titles totalling more than 150 hours, including Work of Art, Project Runway, Models of the Runway, Jamie’s 30 Minute Meals, March of the Dinosaurs, Engineering the Impossible and more. Chello will be broadcasting these on their channels Spektrum, TV Paprika and Club in Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Romania. Finally, Canal+ has acquired a major factual package of nearly 500 hours for their Kuchnia and Domo channels in Poland including Jamie’s 30 Minute Meals, Jamie’s Fish Suppers and Jamie’s Best Ever Christmas; The Martha Stewart Show series 6 and Martha Bakes; Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations series 6; Two Greedy Italians; Donna Hay: Fast, Fresh, Simple; and more.
