The success story of HOUSE OF ANUBIS – the European live-action series for children and teens co-produced by Studio100 – continues unabated.

The series adapted for the United States and the English language market premiered on Nickelodeon U.S. in early January delivering an average of 2.9 million viewers in its first season. This highly popular and promising telenovela has been commissioned for a second season by Nickelodeon U.S., with production of 45 new half hour episodes kicking off in Liverpool (UK) this month.

The telenovela (60 x 12’) is distributed internationally by Munich based Studio100 Media GmbH.

HOUSE OF ANUBIS, the English-language version of the Dutch original HET HUIS ANUBIS, is the first program that broadcaster Nickelodeon U.S. has had produced by a European firm. Shot in Liverpool (UK) the first season of the series is co-produced by Studio100 in association with Nickelodeon U.S. and Lime Pictures (UK). Viewers are able to watch the series in Holland (HET HUIS ANUBIS), Germany, Austria and Switzerland (DAS HAUS ANUBIS), the UK, the USA, Australia (HOUSE OF ANUBIS), Sweden (HUSET ANUBIS), Croatia (KUCA ANUBIS) and Mexico (LA CASA DE ANUBIS).

The hit series for children aged 8 to 12 is already in its sixth season in Belgium and the Netherlands. It was developed from an idea by Hans Bourlon (CEO Studio100 NV) and Gert Verhulst (COO Studio100 NV) and was first produced as HET HUIS ANUBIS for Nickelodeon in the Benelux countries. The German-language version of the telenovela, DAS HAUS ANUBIS, went on air in September 2009 and has been the most successful prime-time program launch on Nickelodeon Germany of all time. The first two seasons of the German version are aired not only in Germany but also in Austria and Switzerland; the third season will commence on Nickelodeon Germany in September 2011. In the Benelux countries there are already two ANUBIS feature films (1.25 million Flemish and Dutch viewers) and stage shows.

Based on the series, Studio100 Media in co-operation with Nickelodeon Germany will be theatrically releasing a feature film in the Spring of 2012 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

The success of ANUBIS has spread far beyond the TV screen. More than half a million merchandising products have been sold to date in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, from books (ca. 190,000), board games (150,000), DVDs (ca. 100,000) and recordings (ca. 50,000) to console and computer games (ca. 30,000), as well as puzzles, diaries, key chains and stationery. The list goes on with apparel, bags, jewelry, bed linens, towels, watches, tableware, party articles, calendars, and stickers. The Anubis fan magazine with a print run of 220,000 copies and many other products are being sold with great success by licensees in the German-language countries. In addition there are several popular websites devoted to the series: www.dashausanubis.de, www.nick.de and www.nick.com.

The series has already won several awards including the prestigious Gouden Stuiver, Cinekid Kinderkast Awards and Kids Choice Awards. Furthermore the series was the only teen telenovela to be nominated for an award at the Rose d’Or Festival.

The story: THE HOUSE OF ANUBIS is an imposing English country manor house built around 1900. It sets the scene for the everyday life of eight male and female students who are coping with school, love, friendship and coming of age. As the eight youths experience the typical ups and downs of teen life they try to uncover the mysterious secret of the House of Anubis – which will change their lives forever.
