Zodiak Rights, the international division of Zodiak Media Group, has acquired the international rights to Usain Bolt: The Fastest Man Alive: a two-part documentary on the Olympic and World 100 metre record holder Usain Bolt. The films are being produced by acclaimed French production company Elephant Doc (part of Elephant Groupe) for France 2. A preview of the documentaries will be unveiled at Mipcom.

Producer/Director Gael Leiblang has secured exclusive access to Usain Bolt, including at the tension-building World Championships in Daegu in early September 2011, and will be filming up close and personal with Bolt over the rest of his preparation for the biggest race of his life.

In the London 2012 Olympics Usain Bolt will try to retain his three Olympic titles. On the night of the final, over 4 billion viewers will watch him as he attempts to enter the history books by becoming the first man ever to retain the 100m, 200m and 4 x 100m gold medals.

Matthew Frank, CEO Zodiak Rights comments: “We are excited to be partnering with Elephant & Co on these exceptional films. Both documentaries will be available to the international market at a relevant time - with the London 2012 Olympics just around the corner. We believe Gaël Leiblang’s exclusive footage will be a very prestigious addition to our catalogue.”

The first film Usain Bolt: The Fastest (1x60’) is an intimate portrait of the fastest man on earth. Made with his complete cooperation it features Bolt in his home environment away from the cameras. It also features all the people who have helped get Bolt to the top of his profession – his first coach, his relatives, his best friends and the Jamaican national coach. This film is available in March 2012.

The second film Usain Bolt: The Legend (1x60’) will feature the build-up to the 2012 Olympics and follow Bolt in a fly on the wall style through his preparation and then the Games themselves as he tries to retain his coveted gold medals. This film will be available immediately after the 2012 Olympics.

Zodiak Rights own worldwide rights to the documentaries excluding France.
