ZDF Enterprises acquires distribution mandate of Studio Hamburg DocLights’ ‘NDR Naturfilm’ package

ZDF Enterprises - September 2011

In the run-up to this year’s television-industry trade fair MIPCOM (3 to 6 October), ZDF Enterprises has acquired the distribution mandate of a package of Studio Hamburg DocLights’ renowned label ‘NDR Naturfilm’. This high-caliber collection of 25 program hours, coproduced with international partners such as the BBC and National Geographic Channel, features documentaries on internationally attractive themes, with top-quality production values, sensational, often never-before-seen visual material, and the participation of internationally acknowledged nature specialists.

Among the programs are:

  • ‘Bama and the Lost Gorillas,’ the moving tale of an animal caretaker in Cameroon who searches for the rarest apes in the world. Winner of 8 international awards, the film contains the first ascertained shots of Cross-River gorillas in freedom.
  • ‘Ocean Secrets,’ which captures on film some of the rarest and most unusual marine creatures such as Mediterranean whales, the ocean sunfish, monk seals, and dolphins that play with giant sharks.
  • ‘Wild Hungary – A Water Wonderland,’ a spectacular declaration of love to Hungary’s natural beauty, produced over a period of three years, and already awarded several prizes.
  • ‘Scotland – Islands and Highlands,’ the surprisingly rich animal life of Britain’s high North. Blur-free cineflex aerial photography and a two-year shooting schedule ensure that this production is one of the best nature films ever shot on this region.
