DHX Media Hires Angeles Blanco As Director Of Licensing

DHX Media, a world leader in producing and distributing groundbreaking family entertainment, has hired Angeles Blanco to serve as Director of Licensing, it was announced today by Michael Polis, President of W!LDBRAIN Entertainment and EVP, Branded Entertainment & Consumer Products, DHX, who oversees global operations for W!LDBRAIN Entertainment and DHX Media’s international licensing activities. Blanco will oversee consumer products development in all territories except for North America and will be based out of DHX Media’s London office, effective immediately.

Polis commented, “As our television properties continue to gain momentum in domestic and international markets and the demand for consumer products for these properties continues to grow, we are adding Angeles to our licensing and consumer products team.” “Angeles has a great track record in the family entertainment content business and is the right choice to drive our licensing and consumer products business forward internationally,” he continued.

With over 17 years of experience in international licensing, holding positions as both licensor and agent, Blanco managed and implemented consumer products programs on behalf of high profile brands across the entertainment and sports spectrum, including the 2002 FIFA World Cup, Little Britain, Mr. Men and Little Miss, Shrek, The Simpsons, Star Wars and Waybuloo, among others. Blanco previously served as head of international licensing at Zodiak Rights, where she led international licensing initiatives on behalf of Yo Gabba Gabba! and other successful family entertainment properties.

In her new role, Blanco will focus on developing new international consumer products offerings across multiple categories and platforms for properties including Rastamouse and Animal Mechanicals, among others. Blanco will interact with the company’s current international partners, including Zodiak Rights, who will continue to handle television sales and consumer products for Yo Gabba Gabba!, the breakout hit created by Christian Jacobs and Scott Schultz and produced by W!LDBRAIN Entertainment. Blanco will report to Josh Scherba, Senior Vice President of Distribution, DHX Media.

Prior to joining DHX Media, Blanco served as head of international licensing at Zodiak Rights. Before joining Zodiak Rights, she served as international licensing manager at Granada Ventures (ITV), where she was responsible for the Pocoyo licensing program globally, as well as the development of international licensing programs for Little Britain, Liverpool FC and Arsenal FC. She served as European brand manager for Copyright Promotions Licensing Group (CPLG) prior to joining Granada Ventures (ITV). Blanco is fluent in English and Spanish.
