ZDF Enterprises - September 2011

ZDF Enterprises is bringing a line-up of high-caliber programs to this year’s TV industry trade fair MIPCOM in Cannes (3 to 6 October). From kids’ programs to documentaries, and from scripted drama to factual series – ZDF Enterprises is ready to meet buyers’ needs in every program genre.

With MIP Junior (1-2 October) traditionally kicking off the fall market, ZDF Enterprises will be unveiling a brand-new series from blockbuster kids’ program producer Jonathan M. Shiff, “Lightning Point” (26 x 26’ + 1 x 90’ HD), a spirited, humor-filled drama about two surf-crazy alien teen girls who crash-land on the Australian coast. Also from Australia is the second season of “Dance Academy” (52 x 26’), the immensely popular teen series about youngsters training to be classical dancers and finding their way in life.

The new episodes of success animation series “Laura’s Star” (52 x 11’) are not to be missed and hairy detective ‘Sherlock Yack’ (52 x 13’ HD) is still investigating criminal cases in his zoo.

More police dramas and thrillers are swooping down from the North this fall, providing sought-after chills. The riveting Danish-Swedish coproduction “The Bridge” (10 x 60‘ or 5 x 110‘ HD) begins with a sensational double murder on the Øresund Bridge between Denmark and Sweden and evolves into a chase for a brilliant criminal mind. In the “Arne Dahl” (10 x 90‘ or 5 x 110‘ HD) series, a team of Swedish specialists must solve the police force’s most perplexing crimes. And with “Jack Taylor” (3 x 90’ or 6 x 45’), viewers will welcome Iain Glen (Game of Thrones) back to the small screen as a rough-and-tumble private eye on the rugged West-Irish coast.

Buyers looking for new, landmark documentaries have always turned to ZDF Enterprises, and this year is no different. “Planet Egypt” (4 x 50’ HD) is the first documentary to take an in-depth look at the entire history of Ancient Egypt, and the first to begin with “Dynasty Zero.” A highly entertaining and informative all-media web module is also available. To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic, “Saving the Titanic” (1 x 90’ or 2 x 50’ HD) depicts the tragedy from a new angle by focusing on the engineers below deck who attempted to save the stricken ship.

Doining the new Factual Series program brand is “Alaska State Troopers” (5 x 50’) an exciting reality series that takes us to the proportionally most heavily armed state in the U.S. and lets us witness the everyday work of the fearless men and women who try to keep the peace there.

At MIPCOM, ZDF Enterprises will also be introducing a new premium short-film service, “contunico.” It is aimed at media-industry professionals who want a quick and economical way of enhancing their products with top-quality audiovisual means.

ZDF Enterprises' President and CEO Alexander Coridass: “By introducing a new service like ‘contunico,’ new genre collections such as ‘factual series,’ and lavishly produced digital specials such as those on Planet Egypt and Ocean Worlds, our clients can see that we are constantly endeavoring to improve our service with imaginative and helpful new products. I think all our clients realize that in times of rapid change, we, too, can show the way to exciting new sales and service strategies.”
