For the first time LIMA UK, part of the trade organisation for the $180+ billion worldwide industry, will present a webinar for licensing industry professionals on British and European law. The webinar entitled, “Understanding UK and European Law, and Their Impact on Licensing Agreements”, takes place on Tuesday 11th October, from 6.00pm to 7.30pm Central European Time (5.00pm to 6.30pm British Summer Time). The LIMA UK webinar is the first in the LIMA webinar series to originate from outside the United States and is part of an international series which delivers an important element of LIMA’s educational programme designed to aid licensing professionals in enhancing their skills and further developing their industry knowledge and expertise. Hosted by expert solicitors in IP law and the licensing business, the webinar will shed light on the key characteristics of the British and European legal systems and how they impact the licensing industry. The webinar hosts are: John Burns, Partner at UK based law firm Gateley; and Christian Fortmann, a past member of the LIMA Board of Directors and Partner at 24IP Law Group, based in Munich, Germany. Mr Fortmann, Partner at 24IP Law Group, said; “With the European Licensing and Merchandising Industry becoming more professional and more complex every day, it is essential to understand the basics of the laws and regulations that govern the licensing process. In particular, people have to understand that it is Intellectual Property rights they are dealing with. Both Licensors and Licensees have to make sure that those rights are well maintained and that the licensing agreements regulating the use of such rights are valid and enforceable in the jurisdiction they are in. This Webinar will give people a head start in understanding the legal problems and solutions for a successful Licensing Scheme.” FREE to LIMA members the webinar is 90 minutes long and it is also open to non-members at a cost.
