A new partnership between the NHL Players Association and Plus Licens will for the first time make the likenesses, names and signatures of more than 700 NHL ice hockey players available for merchandising and promotional purposes outside North America. Plus Licens will represent the NHLPA properties in the Nordic countries and Central and Eastern Europe. The agreement also includes logos and marks of the national and Olympic ice hockey teams.
Sofia Neumuller, NHL Brand Manager at Plus Licens, comments: "NHL is arguably the best-known sports brand in Plus Licens territories, which include some of the world's greatest ice hockey nations like Sweden, Finland, Russia and the Czech Republic. Plus Licens has already for several years successfully represented the NHL brand and team logos, and we are proud to now also be able to offer our customers the exclusive personality rights of the NHL players – as well as the logo and marks of the NHLPA, the International Ice Hockey Federation, the World Championship, and the European national and Olympic teams. NHLPA agreements can also include access to players for appearances, autographs, photo shoots and subsequent endorsements". |
The US merchandising and promotional program for NHLPA includes partners like Pepsi/FritoLay, McDonald’s, Reebok,Visa, Bridgestone, Compuware, Gatorade and Energizer.
Established in 1967, the NHL Players Association today represents over 700 active NHL players, including nearly 300 European players of which the majority come from the Nordic countries and Central and Eastern Europe (74 from Sweden, 45 from Finland, 45 from Russia and 55 from the Czech and Slovak Republics). |
