Interview of Nathalie Chouraqui, Kazachok’s joint director

Kazachok: The latest buzz is that the Kazachok Guide, sometimes called the Licensing Bible, is about to disappear. Is that so?

Nathalie Chouraqui: Yes and no! Yes, since we won’t publish the print version of the Kazachok Guide in 2012! The 1st Guide came out in 2002 – it was only 200 pages long. At the time, it was something of a revolution to be able to find the contacts of licensees and licensors in a single guide. In 2011, for the 10th Edition, the Guide ran over 1,000 pages and weighed close to 2 kg (4.4 pounds). No, since alongside we developed an interactive platform that replaces the printed copy and offers online readers many more possibilities.

Kazachok: So the platform reflects the Guide’s online version, is that right?

Nathalie Chouraqui: No, it represents a lot more than that. We are lucky to be experiencing incredible times and the Internet has no limitations. Thus we took advantage of this new tool to enrich each property or company with marketing and strategic data. Visuals, descriptions and videos are available to widen ones scope of understanding. The fact that this data is accessible via a single platform represents a huge timesaving. Furthermore, since we’re talking online, each web surfer can create a personal selection and mark the data that seems most relevant. Last but not least, we allow access to the entire contents of the newsletter and the Kazachok mag. All this data is indexed. It represents a considerable amount of information for researching with more than 8,000 entries since 2002. In brief, each property or company card leads directly to all the relevant data. The WebGuide is the “Koogle” version of licensing. Thanks to intuitive searching and because all the data is related, you finally can browse through all the aspects of our trade. The WebGuide provides the latest trends, figures, hot news, and needed contacts to go one step further.
I really believe the WebGuide includes all the specifics and assets that people involved in licensing – or looking for information - expect!

Kazachok: And how do you access the WebGuide?

Nathalie Chouraqui: It’s very simple: you register on the Kazachok website and you get your access codes. It’s important to know that the WebGuide is available in 5 different languages. It’s has already gone online and 2011 subscribers can use the platform. By the beginning of 2012, we will unveil new subscription options so a maximum of people can access licensing data and sign more licensing deals.
