Leading Licensing Figures Join LIMA's Legendary Licensing Debate 2012

LIMA UK - March 2012

ITV Global Studios to Sponsor Event on 17th May

LIMA UK has finalised the panellists for its Legendary Licensing Debate 2012, starting at 5pm on Thursday 17th May at the five-star Wyndham Grand Hotel in Chelsea Harbour, London. The debate follows LIMA’s popular one-day Licensing Essentials Course and kicks off its annual Spring Fling networking party, which last year was attended by over 170 people.

As in previous years, the debate will feature a panel of licensing industry leaders who will take questions from the audience and discuss some of the most pressing issues in licensing today. This year’s panel comprises:
  • Darran Garnham, Chief Business Development Officer, Mind Candy - company behind the internet phenomenon, Moshi Monsters
  • Vickie O’Malley, UK Managing Director at CPLG - Europe’s leading licensing agency
  • Jennifer Lawlor - SVP, Zodiak Rights, international rights business.
  • Simon Kay, Business Development Director, AT New Media – the specialist digital licensing agency
  • Dave Collins, Managing Director, Rizon Creative - brand communications experts within the entertainment industry
Questions will be free-ranging, but topics that LIMA expects to arise include:
  • Is digital the future of licensing?
  • Will smartphones, PCs and tablets overtake the TV screen as the 'home' of licensed characters?
  • Direct to retail licensing - good or bad for the industry?
  • Licensing and promotions - do the big brands have the power now?
  • Growing international - can India, Brazil and the rest deliver licensing business any time soon?

Kelvyn Gardner, Managing Director of LIMA UK, comments: “The fact that ITV Global Studios have come on board as sponsors shows that the Spring Fling event is now recognised as one of the must-have tickets of the year.

“Those who have not been before can expect a noisy and thought-provoking debate. It’s all in the name of getting the industry to focus on the bigger issues affecting all of us and getting some expert opinion from some of the leaders in our field. This is followed by one of the best licensing parties of the year – an opportunity to network and enjoy the luxurious surroundings of this wonderful venue.”

Tickets are now available either for the whole day (including the Licensing Essentials Course) or just for the evening event, which kicks off at 5pm.
