A professionally organized and top-notch event ...

Lima Deutschland - April 2012

... this is how the 10th anniversary of The Day of Licensing presented itself

For the tenth time in a row, Cologne found itself in the limelight for The Day of Licensing on April 17 th. “The Day of Licensing” has by now developed into the main information hub for the industry and has become a jour fixe in the calendar. More than 550 members accepted LIMA’s invitation. As already seen in previous years, the day-time events, as well as the spring networking festival in the evening were completely booked. This comes as no surprise since word of the high quality level of the presentation and the premium networking opportunities as the day ends has spread beyond the circle of industry insiders.

A total of 25 licensors and agencies presented an impressive and extensive overview to an audience of industry representatives, covering familiar topics along with a multitude of new ones, making clear the kind of market potential concealed behind the term Licensing & Merchandising. Even the trade industry, represented by firms including C&A, idee+spiel, KiK, Otto, REWE, Rossmann, TEDI, Vedes and Woolworth – considers attendance at Licensing Day a must in order to be ahead on gaining the most up-to-date information on trends and topics.

Heike Winner, Managing Director of the German LIMA representative office says: “I am enthused by the commitment shown by all the speakers and audience members”.

The room was brimming with excitement and tension up the very end, showing the vast amount of respect for the speakers.

We all know the amount of effort it requires to professionally prepare such top-notch presentations to fill out the time slots. At the same time we also know the high level of concentration required to stay focused on the presentations over the course of an entire day.

The feedback from all participants, be it trade partners, licensees or agencies, was positive across the board. "In 2012 too, the Licensing Day was a not-to-be missed event on our calendar", says Joachim Stempfle, Divisional Merchandise Manager Central Europe of the LIMA member company Toys"R"Us. "In addition to the in-depth information on all current and upcoming licenses, it also serves as a platform for networking and interfacing between partners in the industry."

Peter Boder, CEO of United Labels says, "This year’s event has not only demonstrated that the Licensing Day has become an established event but that it has grown to see an even greater response."

"In the meantime, this event has become the central source for information on developments in the German licensing market for our company," says Stephan P. Tahy, Managing Director of Mattel GmbH, a first time participant at the event. "I would not have missed this day for anything. I have already been aware of it as a must-see event. Despite all the positive responses prior to event, I am absolutely amazed at this completely efficiently run convention and the evening network event was an even bigger surprise."

We are already looking forward to November 12 in Munich to the Licensing Market 2012.
