Retailer Turnout Boosts Another Successful Licensing Essentials And Spring Fling Event

LIMA UK - May 2012

Some 200 licensing professionals and top retailers flocked to the Wyndham Grand Hotel in Chelsea, London, on Thursday 17 May to attend LIMA UK’s annual Licensing Essentials course and Spring Fling networking party.

This year, for the first time, there was a heavy presence from high-street names such as Boots, Mothercare and Tesco, adding another dimension to the event which is a major part of LIMA’s educational and networking calendar. Subjects that proved particularly thought-provoking during the day included the opportunities in digital apps, tips for success with major retailers, the challenges and rewards of licensing in India and how to ensure that the legal and financial aspects of licensing agreements don’t go wrong.

As in previous years, the Spring Fling party kicked off with the Legendary Licensing Debate featuring some top names from the industry. It proved very lively indeed as the panel wrestled with questions about how to respond to the current retail environment, combating prejudices about the licensing industry’s role and ensuring positive relationships between licensors and licensees. This was followed by a fantastic drinks party set in chic surroundings next to glamorous Chelsea harbour.

Kelvyn Gardner, Managing Director of LIMA UK, is delighted with the success of the event. He said: “We said last year that our goal was to provide our members with world-class events in world-class venues and this year’s Licensing Essentials Course and Spring Fling has been no exception. This is one of the only events in the year to bring such a diverse audience from all over the industry together. It is equally valuable to a retail buyer seeking a better understanding of the licensing mix or a senior executive wanting the latest insights on where the next big thing is coming from. Delegates will have learned huge amounts from our industry experts that they can apply in their everyday roles.”

LIMA will be making presentations from the event available to attendees online over the coming few days.
