Discovery Enterprises International (DEI) underlines its position as a leader in real world brands following a transformational year that has seen the business launch new brand extensions and increase its licensee base by an incredible 92%.

Located at Booth 7140 at International Licensing EXPO 2012, DEI will showcase its world-class brands for men and children that have enabled the licensor to bring Discovery to the high street, thus realizing its ambition to become a global leader in real world brands. The slate will be led by Discovery Channel’s Explore Your World, Discovery Adventures and Animal Planet.

Nicolas Bonard, Senior Vice President, Discovery Enterprises International says, “Discovery Channel’s core brand values of exploration, adventure and learning inspire diverse consumer propositions of unparalleled quality and innovation. The successful launch of our brand extensions aimed at men and children demonstrate retailer support and consumer demand for our unique offering and we look forward to engaging with potential new partners at EXPO.”

Discovery Channel’s Explore Your World, Discovery Adventures and Animal Planet will headline DEI’s International Licensing EXPO 2012 presentation and activity on the booth.

Discovery Channel’s Explore Your World encourages active play by combining nature and technology. Aimed at boys aged 6-12 years, the brand allows children to satisfy their curiosity through products that aim to educate and encourage exploration of the natural world. Product lines including toys and games from Lisciani Giochi and high-end scientific toys from Oregon Scientific will launch at retail in Q3 2012. The brand also lends itself perfectly to the publishing category and has attracted two leading international partners. Grani Publishing will be publishing a monthly magazine in the UK, France and Italy and Miles Kelly has just launched a range of survival guides and books with further releases planned for later this year.

Discovery Adventures is the licensor’s specialist travel tours business. Built on the belief that the journey is the destination, each and every Discovery Adventures trip is committed to pushing the boundaries of active and intellectual exploration wherever the path may lead. DEI recently announced a partnership with G Adventures which will be leading the expansion of the Discovery Adventures brand beyond the US and Canada into international markets allowing loyal Discovery fans and adventurers on-location Discovery experienced in 26 countries across all seven continents.

Discovery’s second largest international channel brand, Animal Planet grew its licensing partnerships by 146% in 2011. The acceleration of the programme continues in 2012 with the launch of the revolutionary Animal Planet: Wildlands NUKO™ collectible trading card game from Silicon Valley’s toy company Nukotoys. The game combines collectible cards with a unique game app that lets kids of all ages collect, trade, learn about and interact with 50 exotic animals in the Animal Planet Wildlands. The game will have an international launch bolstered by a licensing programme that includes new toy lines from WOW Stuff, a dedicated brand magazine that is now published in 12 territories and high profile FMCG promotions.
