Other UK winners were; Navigate Ltd (Very Hungry Caterpillar/children’s gardening products) securing Best Art or Design Licensee of the Year; and Topps International (Indian Premier League Cricket Attax/trading card game) for Best Sports or Sports-Themed Entertainment Licensee of the Year – Hard Goods. In 2012 nine UK companies in total were nominated for the highly sought after awards, placing Britain second only to the USA for number of nominations. Nominations were drawn from a worldwide pool of entrants across the licensing industry, and winners were chosen by a vote of the LIMA membership. Kelvyn Gardner, Managing Director of LIMA UK, who attended the awards ceremony commented, “With more than half of LIMA's entire membership now based outside the USA, it's great to see some British names alongside the many fantastic American companies in the roster of winners for these prestigious awards.” “In the past two years there has been a sea-change in the licensing and merchandising industry in the UK, with LIMA UK members driving-up the international competition stakes. I’m absolutely delighted with the 2012 results and congratulations to all our nominees, as well as the winners.” The winners were announced at the LIMA Awards Ceremony at the Licensing International Expo in Las Vegas on 12th June 2012. Seventeen International Licensing Excellence Awards were presented on the night recognising the best and most successful licensed properties and products in seven categories. The categories were: Art or Design; Character or Toy Brand; Corporate Brand; Film, Television, Celebrity, or Entertainment; Sports; Promotion; and Retailer. |
