You will also hear how Brand Extensions Russia is building a strong new name in a vast and growing market. Now read on…

Ultimate Fighting Championship®
Mixed Martial Arts is the fastest-growing sport in the world and a hit in studios and gyms worldwide. It is also a licensing phenomenon and a major success in video, equipment, apparel, publishing and a fast-growing list of new categories. And it’s a massive live phenomenon constantly in the public eye: UFC stages wildly popular live events around the world — including September’s big name event at the Capital FM Arena in Nottingham.

Bamforth Vintage Collection
In the very short time since the 25,000 images in the Bamforth Vintage Collection were made available for licensing, the designs that made Bamforth one of the 20th century’s best-loved and most famous seaside postcard names have appeared on bookmarks, coasters, metal signs, pint glasses, gift confectionery, cufflinks, business card holders, key rings, hip flasks, lighters, personalised magazine covers, kitchenware, outdoor living products, t-shirts, calendars — and even a new range of classic postcards! Deckchairs, mirror frames, seaside rock, books and apps will soon follow with more licences likely to be announced before and during BLE.

Turizmo
At the core of the Turizmo concept is an other-worldly group of metal creatures that can shift from robot-like characters into vehicles. But not just any vehicles. Turizmo Studios has the rights to employ 30 manufacturers’ top models as part of its concept. The amazing Turizmo brand is underpinned by awesome characters and storylines. And a huge potential market: tech savvy boys aged 4-10 who love role play and action toys. JELC, the global licensing agent for the brand, also sees strong opportunities in publishing, gaming, trading cards, a variety of mobile content and toys and has already signed up leading Australian tech company Mishme to produce digital avatars.

Gem Fairies
The universal appeal to little girls of fairies and princesses is well established but to succeed with a new property you need a strong, quality brand. That brand is Gem Fairies. Gemma International, the UK market leader in licensed greetings cards, has brought to the 2-6-year-old girls’ market three pretty princesses who, by touching their gem necklaces, transform into Gem Fairies. A website — www.gemfairies.co.uk— featuring games and activities has been launched, while card ranges in Toys R Us, Sainsbury’s, Asda and others continue to outstrip sales expectations. JELC, the global licensing agent for Gem Fairies, has already signed overseas agents in Thailand and Australia, and awarded the first overseas greeting card license to South African Greetings. Interest is also strong from the vast Russian market.

Plain Lazy
JELC is working alongside Plain Lazy, a clothing and accessories brand inspired by the surf and skating scenes that has successfully evolved into a lifestyle brand that celebrates a relaxed — very relaxed — attitude to life. Plain Lazy products — t-shirts, hoodies, hats, mugs, toiletries, bags, bedding, curtains, skateboards, helmets and more — are adorned with witty and attractively presented one-liners like Make Tea Not War, Sleep With Your Clothes On and Not a Morning Person or the famous Plain Lazy sleeping silhouette logo. The brand’s core demographic is men and women between 16 and 25 but there are many older fans, not to mention a successful kids’ range and the popular Lazy Baby range.

Brand Extensions Russia — bringing big names to a big new market
Brand Extensions Russia JJP is the joint venture licensing company for the Russian market formed by JELC and PJB Brands, The partners jointly bring over sixty years of licensing experience to one of the world’s biggest and most exciting markets. Janet Woodward, Director, JELC, says: “The twelve months since BLE 2011 have been particularly exciting for JELC, with established brands moving into high gear, new brands quickly gaining traction across European markets and our new joint venture in Russia with PJB attracting an astonishing level of interest from an early stage. We’re looking forward enormously to meeting a diverse range of new clients, established clients and would-be clients during what we expect to be our busiest BLE ever!”
