Hype in the UK: Angry Birds
The characters from the smartphone game Angry Birds have become one of the top licenses among British children - 52 % would consider it absolutely brilliant to get products with the birds on them. With other European children, however, this license ranks only one among many: Only 23 % of French kids and 20 % of German kids find the birds as exciting. German and French kids prefer products with the Penguins of Madagascar (D: 40 %; F: 33 %, UK: 25 %).

These results are taken from the current issue of the Kids License Monitor, a quarterly study implemented by the independent German research agency iconkids & youth. The online study was implemented in Germany, UK and France with more than 1,200 children aged 4 to 12 years. A total of 71 different licenses were analyzed in all relevant dimensions, including the licenses' awareness, appeal, market status, category fit, or ownership of products.

The Kids License Monitor provides a reliable and transparent data base for the license market. It indicates which licenses are currently successful, and it highlights which licenses have the potential to become a success in the near future: Market developments become transparent and upcoming license trends can be identified.

The current issue of the Kids License Monitor is available as of now. LIMA members are entitled to a 49% discount on a yearly subscription and a 45% discount on each single wave of the Kids License Monitor.
