The seminar, which is expected to attract some 75 people, will cover a wide range of topics including the nuts and bolts of image licensing, the licensor and licensee perspective and the legal essentials. Lucy Heavens and Sarah Watts will be explaining how they went about their successful licensing programmes and sharing plenty of tips and practical advice. The Greeting Card Association (www.greetingcardassociation.org.uk) was founded in 1919 and offers resources and advice to over 450 members including publishers, artists and writers. The licensing of image rights has become a central part of the greeting card industry – a way for publishers to extend their brands into other product areas and increase their income or to buy in brands or artwork for their ranges. Kelvyn Gardner, Managing Director of LIMA UK, comments: “Licensing offers a huge field of opportunity for greetings card publishers. They can aspire to become significant licensees like Gemma or Danilo, both huge names in the UK licensee fraternity. Moreover some of the best-known properties of all time come from origins in the card sector, including Care Bears, Me to You and Bang on the Door.” Tickets for the event are now available through the Greeting Card Association’s website: www.greetingcardassociation.org.uk |
