Music is an indispensable part of our daily life. It’s a source of entertainment, passion, inspiration and a whole culture by itself. People have become so dependent on it that they’re starting to take it for granted, especially in terms of ignoring its copyrights. At first, it was a special luxurious commodity for the royalty. Nowadays, with our rapidly growing age of technology, the “free download” click gives a false analogy to people that everything is free; but this is wrong! We can find many public places such as restaurants, malls… playing music without getting the rights from the rights holder! If we want to protect the music copyrights, the users must know that there is a price to pay to play music! It is time to let the market know that MUSIC IS NOT FOR FREE and that there is a legal obligation to have a license in order to play music. In other terms, the efforts of every song writer, composer, publisher, and performer should be acknowledged and protected.

12:45 – 13:00 | Branded Content, When Subtle Ads Meet Consumer’s Emotions
Today’s new age advertising medium has brought together A-list stars and top brands together under the “branded entertainment” broad category. Always one step ahead of marketing strategies and because the function of a media awaited by its viewers is not to simply broadcast the ad but a content that audiences will agree to consume, Rotana Audio Sector (RAS) chose to invest on content brand, the new era of advertising and entertainment. But what is really the branded content? Pioneer in the arena of branded entertainment in the Arab world, RAS attempts to feature a blend of various brands and products throughout their video clips productions by integrating them in the consumer’s everyday life. In western music industry the trend of brand integration mainly started as a simple “product placement”, but traditional advertising needed some out of the box ideas to convince clients, not simply to invest more but to partnership. So it was time to take the initiative and bring it to the Middle East. The idea is to integrate the brand or product smoothly within the story board and have the artist interact with is, making the item part of the real world.
