Simon’s Cat tops 1 Million Subscribers on YouTube

Simon’s Cat has reached one of YouTube’s greatest milestones – 1 million total subscribers. This places Simon’s Cat in a very exclusive club along with the likes of One Direction and Adele, being one of only 8 UK YouTube channels with over a million subscribers.

The feat is made all the more eye-catching by virtue of the fact the Simon’s Cat YouTube channel only has 23 videos, almost the lowest number of videos with which a channel has made the million subscriber mark and been part of Global Top 100 Channels on YouTube.

Simon Tofield, the creator of Simon’s Cat said: “I’m really happy that Simon’s Cat continues to entertain so many people. And I’m extremely grateful for the massive support the fans have given me and the team since we started on YouTube.”

The phenomenal online popularity and huge international appeal of Simon’s Cat has led to a raft of consumer products being launched globally. United Agents appointed Zodiak Rights to build the UK licensing programme for Simon’s Cat in 2010 and the business continues to expand in 2012.

A wide range of Simon’s Cat product can already be found in market, from books, plush, gifting & novelty items, to accessories, calendars & diaries, and celebration cakes.

Newly signed partners continue to extend the range of Simon’s Cat products available. Licensees set to launch from A/W ’12 include: Sharples ‘N’ Grant (pet accessories and products), Offshore International (digital & mobile hard cases and skinz) and Bravado (mens & women’s t-shirts), with further apparel lines and online personalised greeting cards set to launch early 2013.

Jennifer Lawlor, Senior Vice President, Consumer Products, Zodiak Rights – London said: “Simon’s Cat achieving this incredible benchmark on YouTube demonstrates the passion and affection so many people have for our favourite feline. We’re thrilled to work with the Simon’s Cat team and a great group of licensees to develop fantastic new products as we continue to expand the licensing programme in line with the ever-growing awareness for the property.”
