CPLG, Europe’s leading licensing agency, will once again be presenting an outstanding portfolio of entertainment properties at Brand Licensing Europe 2012.

 

Activisions’ Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure has transcended the digital space to become one of the hottest new properties in the kids market. The first game to deliver a cross-platform experience that allows kids to bring real world toys to life in a magical world via the Portal of Power™ has led to huge success at retail with more than 20 million toys sold globally. CPLG which represents Skylanders across all of its territories has been delighted with the overwhelming response to the property by licensees across all categories. As well as products hitting shelf towards the end of the year, the eagerly anticipated game extension, Skylanders: Giants, is set to further boost interest in the brand when it launches at the end of the year.

Red-hot TV property The Only Way Is Essex (TOWIE),continues to pull in huge audiences on ITV2. After six highly successful series, the show is hotter than ever, reflected by the solid and ever expanding licensing programme developed by CPLG. Licensees include Sommerbond for nightwear and underwear, Fashion UK for T-shirts and tops,The Beauty Works for beauty electricals, Elegantly Waisted for T-shirts and sweatshirts, Senoble for cupcakes and celebration cakes, Football Mania for gifting, 20:20 Mobile for mobile phone accessories and Ethos International for homewares.

WWE, the larger-than-life brand featuring the most famous wrestlers in the world, including Triple H, John Cena, Randy Orton and The Miz continues to be a strong licensing proposition for all CPLG territories. A mixture of sell-out live shows and extensive television coverage means the brand has a huge global reach and is a massive presence in the licensing sector. Over 160 partners are on board worldwide and WWE is rated as No. 2 boys’ action property and No. 5 largest property in the toy industry. In the UK the brand boasts an extensive licensing programme boosted by strong marketing support. Toys from master toy partner Mattel have been performing strongly throughout 2012 thanks to increased TV investment.Products include FlexForce action figures that allow kids to recreate signature moves,toy wrestling rings and championship belts. Publishing is another major sector for the brand through partners Simon and Schuster, Pedigree, DC Thomson and Dorling Kindersley. WWE is the No.2 video game brand in the UK thanks to the success of products from THQ and the success of the DVD’s released by Clear Vision, has ensured that the company has become the No.1 home entertainment company in the UK.

 

A whole new generation of boys are experiencing the phenomena that is Power Rangers through the all-new Power Rangers Super Samurai. The worldwide licensing programme continues to go from strength to strength and CPLG continues to grow this success across all its territories. Series 2 hit UK screens on Nickelodeon this summer following on from the huge success of series 1 in 2011. The Bandai master toy line was released last year and a new Super Samurai range, backed by TV support, launched in July. Publishing by Parragon Books has been successfully rolling out throughout 2012 with a range that includes annuals, colour, sticker & activity books, novelty titles, 3D storybooks and treasuries. Over 25 other licensees are on board in the UK alone, covering categories including apparel, bedding, homewares, gifts, games, greetings and FMCG.

Founded in 1969, Sesame Street is one of the world’s leading educational brands and is the most widely viewed children’s series ever! Hit spin-off shows such as Elmo’s World, The Adventures of Bert and Ernie, and new series Abby’s Flying Fairy School add to the recognition surrounding this classic brand and a solid UK licensing programme which includes Hasbro for master toy as well as a host of other licensees, such as Brecrest (babywear), Cooneen (nightwear/underwear) and Half Moon Bay (gifting) continues to delight consumer of all ages.

 

CPLG is also delighted to present a fantastic opportunity for licensing in the form of Despicable Me 2. The eagerly anticipated sequel Despicable Me is due for release in 2013. Steve Coogan and Al Pacino will join original cast members including Steve Carrell and Russell Brand. The Chapman Entertainment portfolio which includes established properties Fifi and the Flowertots and Roary the Racing Car as well as Little Charley Bear and Raa Raa the Noisy Lion, forms an important part of the CPLG pre school portfolio. Little Charley Bear has almost 30 partners on board across a wide range of categories, with merchandise recording strong sales across UK retail – licensees include Vivid for master toy, Aykroyds for nightwear/underwear, Zap for bedding, Danilo for greetings, Penguin for publishing, Blues Clothing for apparel, Hit for DVDs and Golden Bear for hot water bottle covers. Raa Raa the Noisy Lion also boasts a strong programme that features over twenty partners across categories including apparel, toys & games, homewares and stationery, whilst BBC Worldwide DVDs, Tomy Raa Raa toys and a new book range from Penguin are reporting strong sales across UK retail. Worldwide interest in the property is growing with a number of international sub agents recently being appointed by CPLG in territories such as Russia, Korea and Turkey.

Millions fell in love with the Star Trek universe when it beamed into the lives of audiences around the world with Star Trek: The Original Series. The franchise, with its 12th Star Trek movie scheduled for release in May 2013, continues to inspire and invite audiences to join its futuristic journey through the universe. CPLG, the licensing representative for CBS Consumer Products, has signed on four new partners – Danilo, iG Accessories, Pyramid and Zeon to take the journey into the Star Trek licensing programme. As an entertainment franchise that can boast of success and unprecedented longevity, Star Trek is a property that has truly gone where no one has gone before…….

Produced by Carnival Films and written and created by Oscar-winning writer Julian Fellowes for ITV, Downton Abbey portrays the lives of the Crawley family and the servants who work for them. In the drawing rooms, library and beautiful bedrooms of Downton Abbey, lives the family. Below stairs are the other residents, the servants, as fiercely jealous of their ranks as anyone above stairs.
