BinWeevils.com the latest high profile licensor to join LIMA

LIMA UK - September 2012

Exciting plans for expansion into the US and Australia

BinWeevils.com, the exciting online social world for children, has become the latest high profile licensor to join LIMA UK, the licensing trade association (www.licensing.org). As a member of LIMA, it will have access to a significant number of benefits including discounted access to shows and educational events and LIMA’s network of international offices.

BinWeevils.com was first launched in 2008 as a gaming microsite on Nickelodeon.co.uk and attracted so many followers that it was made into a stand-alone online platform. It enables children to create their own character, or Bin Weevil, which they can use to play games, chat online with friends, solve puzzles and other activities. The platform now has over 2.3 million active players per month (kids 7 to 13) with each visitor spending between 25 to 30 minutes every visit.

The BinWeevils.com Consumer Products Licensing programme has seen significant growth over the past 12 months. It has signed up over 20 licensed partners in all major category areas including toys, publishing, trading cards, apparel, accessories, homewares and food. Initial launches have been exceptionally successful with Panini's Trading Card Game maintaining the #2 category market position and Egmont's magazine launching as the UK's 4th largest pre-teen magazine.

Amelia Johnson, Co-Founder & Commercial Director of Bin Weevils.com, comments: “BinWeevils.com has been securing licensing partners consistently and LIMA offers amazing support to companies like ours who are looking to grow their consumer products business and attract new licensees. LIMA is particularly good at connecting people internationally; something that is incredibly important to us as we start a push into the US and Australia next year.”

“Our aim, in five years’ time, is to be established as a major licensed brand in the UK as well as other English speaking territories and Europe. We believe that there is a strong future for BinWeevils.com to build a long-term audience in the same way as other media platforms such as TV broadcasters.”
