German entity is looking for a Licensing Manager D/A/CH

The Company
Our client is the world's largest toy company based on revenue (6,26 billion US-Dollar in 2011). The product line-up includes some of the best-known brands in children’s toys and games. The German entity (located in Hessen - Frankfurt area) with three digit revenues is planning to hire a Licensing Manager DACH (Germany, Austria, Switzerland).

The Role
The future incumbent takes responsibility for building the local market strategy and plans for all licensed brands in the hardlines categories (i.e. electronics, sporting goods, stationary/BTS, toys & games). The candidate develops strong partnerships with licensees through managing existing licensees, identifying new partners and negotiating new deals. He/she has very good understanding of the licensees manufacturing capabilities and helping them to get new products listed at retailers, through driving and proactively influencing licensees’ product development.

Furthermore the key responsibilities are:
  • Developing the marketing and financial business plans to support the implementation of fully integrated brand strategies
  • Developing the hardlines business (3-5 year long term strategy) with a focus on integrating toy & licensed products into strong joint retail statements
  • Driving business at a retail level through:
    • Regular meetings with key retailers and licensees to develop all year round POS statements as well as strong promotional concepts
    • Identifying direct-to-retail opportunities, negotiating new direct-to-retail agreements
    • Increasing the overall POS visibility for licensed products
    • Building strong relationships with key retailers to ensure broad listing of all core brands (portfolio approach)
    • Leading continual trend and gap analysis in the relevant categories to develop new business opportunities from a sales, marketing and product perspective

The Licensing Manager Hardlines DACH reports to the Senior Manager Licensing DACH.

The Candidate
He/she has a degree in business administration (Bachelor/Master/Diplom) combined with experience in one/various relevant hardlines categories with a strong sales/marketing background.

Further requirements are:
  • Commercial thinking and ability to spot trends and understand which products will be commercially successful
  • Excellent analytical and strategic planning skills
  • Entrepreneurial, hands on mentality
  • Ideally existing relationships to key players in the licensing industry, existing strong network in Germany (key retailers, licensees, etc.)

The successful candidate shows high affinity to multicultural, international working environment and has an excellent command of German and English, knowledge of other languages valuable.
