Random House Enterprises Joins LIMA

LIMA UK - October 2012

New division to pursue opportunities beyond publishing

Random House Enterprises (RHE), part of The Random House Group - one of the UK’s biggest book publishers - has become the latest publishing organisation to join LIMA UK, the licensing trade association (www.licensing.org). As a new division, it has joined LIMA to benefit from its support, information and networking opportunities, both in the UK and internationally.

The Random House Group consists of five publishing companies (Cornerstone, Transworld, Vintage, Ebury and Random House Children’s Publishers), each with its own distinct list of world-class authors. Random House Enterprises (RHE) has been set up to pursue opportunities for the Group to extend its reach beyond publishing into areas including TV, film, merchandising, gaming, live events and sponsorship. RHE works with the Group’s publishing companies to take authors and their works to a wider consumer audience through mutually beneficial partnerships.

Since being set up in August, RHE has been working closely with Random House Children’s Screen Entertainment (RHCSE), a joint venture production company, which takes Random House children’s books and their characters to TV and movie screens. RHE also plans to develop licensing programmes from teen and adult-targeted books and authors.

Jo Edwards, Head of Licensing, Random House Enterprises, comments: “Our company is privileged to work with many award-winning authors and a huge breadth of content. We have ambitious plans to grow our licensing business and build strategic partnerships with both licensees and retailers.”
