In a deal out of the company’s U.S. office in Los Angeles, Shaftesbury today announced that it has landed Do-Over, the new tween series from Hannah Montana, That’s So Raven and Life With Boys creator Michael Poryes. The half-hour series focuses on a 15-year-old aspiring songwriter who has the enviable ability to “do-over” events in her life as many times as she’d like. Shaftesbury and ZDF Enterprises will manage distribution of the series.

“We’re incredibly excited to be working with the creator of some of the industry’s most successful series for tween audiences,” said Tom Mazza, Co-Head, Shaftesbury U.S. “We believe Michael may have found the next Hannah Montana with Do-Over.”

"Tweens and teens love the truth, really love to laugh and absolutely hate to be talked down to,” said Poryes. “Do-Over is a smart comedy that raises the teen series bar by treating them with the respect they so deserve while giving them a sitcom where the humor and fun is always based on real life.”

Fred Burcksen, ZDF Enterprises’ Vice President of Sales, Merchandising and Coproductions, adds, “We have a long-standing experience in the worldwide distribution of live action series. Without any doubt, Do-Over will be an international success and we are very proud to partner with Shaftesbury for this series.”

Do-Over follows the story of Reggie Nichols, a 15-year-old aspiring songwriter who just happens to have a special talent: she was born with the ability to turn the clock back five minutes and redo things she’s said or done. This sounds like every teenager’s dream come true, except that more often than not, a do-over makes things go from bad to worse, to better, to not so good, to the inevitable compromises we all make in life. Reggie comes to realize her ability is a double-edged sword, and that no matter how many chances she has, nothing is perfect in life and there is balance everything. In each episode, her frustrations and discoveries will culminate in the performance of an original song that is inspired by her experiences.
