Brand Licensing Europe - October 2012

Annoying Orange Apparel, Books and Toys to Debut in UK and Ireland

YouTube sensation Annoying Orange will be making a splash in the UK and Ireland with several juicy new licensing deals. Leading entertainment management and production company, The Collective, announced today six new licensees in the realms of apparel, toys, gifts, and publishing. These new licensing agreements were brokered on behalf of The Collective by Rocket Licensing, the licensing agent for Annoying Orange in the UK and Ireland. Brand Licensing Europe attendees can learn more about Annoying Orange and the new licensees by visiting the Rocket Licensing booth, G005, at the show, which kicks off on October 16th.

The recently signed deals for the fruity sensation include:
  • Toys: Underground Toys will debut a product range from U.S. toy company The Bridge—a range that has already enjoyed great success in the American market. The line will be available at retail this month.
  • Apparel: TV MANIA UK, a prominent manufacturer and distributor of branded and TV licensed merchandise, will produce zesty ranges of Annoying Orange boys apparel, nightwear and underwear. In addition, a line of adult apparel, nightwear, and underwear is being developed by one of the leading UK manufacturer of licensed clothing, Poetic Gem.
  • Publishing: In 2013, Annoying Orange books will be published by major UK children's publisher Egmont, while Pedigree Books will release annuals.
  • Novelty: PMS International, a leading importer and distributor of a wide range of consumer products, will develop a line of leisure gifts.

Created by Dane Boedigheimer, Annoying Orange took the Internet by storm when it debuted on YouTube in October 2009 and since then has quickly racked up more than one billion total views with over 2.4 million YouTube channel subscribers. The popularity has also translated to more than 12 million likes on Facebook and to its official web site, www.annoyingorange.com, which generates nearly four million page views each month. Annoying Orange recently embarked on a new adventure with the debut of its television series on Cartoon Network in the U.S. The television series has become an instant hit and continually ranks #1 in its time slot among boys 2-11 and 6-11 versus all TV.

Rob Wijeratna, Joint Managing Director of Rocket Licensing, said, “We took on the Annoying Orange licence a matter of months ago and have been amazed by the response. Not only do we already have many significant licenses in place but our growing group of partners report excellent feedback and a growing commitment from retailers. This is clearly a fruit with appeal!”
