Lillipippins are beautifully crafted representations of woodland and wild animals — giraffes, pandas, squirrels, butterflies and more — but with a difference: these charming animals are all minuscule. In award-winning designer Lisa Johnson’s illustrations they can be seen relaxing on — or peering round — household objects that tower over them. The effect is reminiscent of the delightful, nostalgic keepsakes of centuries past but with an appealingly modern wit and charm. It’s a winning combination that has undoubted potential in numerous retail categories. That’s why JELC will be promoting Lillipippins as an ideal brand for greetings and stationery, publishing, new media, housewares and décor, giftware, nursery products, apparel, confectionery and food, and health and beauty products. This beautiful brand comes with an equally beautiful name, one that evokes a tiny world of Lilliputian scale and all the associations of pippin — a pip within delicious fruit and also a charming word for something greatly admired. And the excellence of Lilipippins has already been recognised. Lillipippins is a finalist at License This!, the exciting annual challenge at BLE where new brands or licensing concepts are pitched to a panel of experts. The winner will receive a fully- furnished stand at Brand Licensing Europe 2013. This is the second appearance in succession by a JELC property at the final of License This!. Last year, Turizmo, the thrilling toy and fantasy game concept for boys was a contender. Lillipippins will be joining a busy JELC stand whose highlights include Ultimate Fighting Championship®, the world’s best loved global Mixed Martial Arts brand; iconic seaside postcard name Bamforth; Turizmo; the magical princesses who become the Gem Fairies; the Russian supercar company Marussia Motors; and the laid-back lifestyle and clothing brand Plain Lazy, A number of deals from the JELC/PJB Brand Extensions Russia JJP joint venture, including the introduction of some major names to the vast Russian market, will also be announced during the show. Janet Woodward, Joint Managing Director, JELC, says: “Lillipippins is a wonderful concept: easy to understand and instantly appealing but also sophisticated in its design and beautifully portrayed. This stunning quality, combined with its humour and charm, makes Lillipippins unlike any other brand. We were instantly attracted to this unique concept and we think licensing and retail — and consumers — will be too.” |
