KENSIN CO., LTD. under its Japanese brand, Art of War®, is further expanding its Samurai Animals™ licensing business this year, and is seeking new agents and licensees worldwide.

Samurai Animals™ is a combination of two important Japanese and Asian elements – “Samurai” and “The 12 Animals of the Zodiac”- into a single concept. Yutaro Sakakibara, founder of Kensin conceived this unique idea as an epic saga to reach out to fans of eastern and oriental culture.

In 2012 Art of War® released many new Samurai Animals™ products including mug cups, computer accessories and even FRISK® mint case covers. Two premium items in particular - the laser crystal figure collection and Japanese Urushi lacquerware iPhone cases – have been well received by consumers.

Following a successful exhibition at the Licensing Japan 2012 trade fair, held last July, Kensin entered into new domestic Japan licensee partnerships with Mocofos and Smileworld, both for iPhone cases and Voxpox for hanging scroll pictures. By combining Art of War’s strength in character design and quality control with the licensees’ skillsin their respective product areas, Samurai Animals™ licensed products reached new heights of quality.

Sakakibara commented, “We are looking for new licensing agents and licensee partners overseas. The Samurai Animals™ property concept permits creative flexibility, even allowing licensees to create their own new original sub-characters. The world of Samurai Animals™ is set in a timeless domain that is neither the past, the present nor the future. Therefore the possibilities for this brand are countless and the potential is infinite. I look forward to working with existing and new licensing partners to grow Samurai Animals™ into a world-class property”.
