LIMA, the international licensing association, is offering licensing professionals the chance to gain valuable insights into the differences in international IP law with a webinar on 1 May 2013 hosted by Michelle Lewiston and Louise McAdam, Solicitors at London-based law firm, Speechly Bircham. The webinar – which takes place between 5-6.30pm GMT (12 – 1.30pm U.S. Eastern Time) - will highlight the key differences between the European and US licensing systems. It will also provide participants with an insight into matters that need extra attention during the negotiation and conclusion of IP licenses. This session is part of LIMA’s year-round webinar series, which encompasses a range of basic and advanced topics aimed at helping licensing professionals improve their business knowledge and skills. Kelvyn Gardner, Managing Director of LIMA UK, said: “LIMA webinars are an excellent way for licensors and licensees to get the very latest expert advice on current topics within licensing. With the internet making licensed products accessible across the globe, brand owners need to be aware that the idiosyncrasies of their own national system may not translate when licensing intellectual property rights in other jurisdictions. This webinar will be hugely valuable for property owners and distributors on both sides of the Atlantic.” Michelle Lewiston, Solicitor at Speechly Bircham, said: “Keeping up-to-date with global developments in the fast-moving arena of international IP law is a constant challenge for business professionals. That’s why we’re delighted to have been asked by LIMA to present this webinar highlighting the differing scenarios that exist with regard to negotiating IP licences in Europe and the US.” The ongoing LIMA webinar series is a key element of LIMA’s mission to inform and educate companies about different aspects of licensing and it is encouraging other UK companies in particular to try them out – and to let LIMA know what topics they would like to see. LIMA Webinars are free to current members, or $200.00 for non-members. To book, visit the LIMA website at: www.licensing.org/events/register/1012/ |
