Federal Association of Nursery Manufacturers Founded

Bundesverbandes Deutscher Kinderausstattungs-Hersteller e.V. - September 2013

Nursery manufacturers voluntarily commit to improve and comply with safety and social standards

By founding the Federal Association of Nursery Manufacturers (Bundesverband Deutscher Kinderausstattungs-Hersteller e.V. (BDKH)), the nursery industry created a joint structure and set clear goals such as, among other things, the improvement of safety standards for children’s products, a close cooperation with national and international institutions and authorities and a dialogue with relevant consumer organisations. In addition, the BDKH will promote a child-friendly society and compliance with social standards during the production of children’s products.

The members of the newly founded association set themselves such social and ethical standards in a code of conduct. The founders include renowned manufacturers such as Britax-Römer, CHICCO, Dorel (Maxi- Cosi, Quinny), Lässig, PEG Perego, Rotho Babydesign and Teutonia.

We are pleased that by founding the BDKH it is finally possible to give our industry a common voice. Children do not have a good lobby in Germany. Here, the birth rate is amongst the lowest in Europe. That’s why we will campaign for more social acceptance of children and better policy frameworks for families,” explains Michael Neumann, CEO Dorel Germany and one of the initiators of the new association.

The association will have its seat in Cologne, Germany, where the world’s leading fair for the baby and toddler outfitting market takes place once a year.
